The healthcare dimension of SCTR
Peru’s system separates health and pension coverage. EsSalud +Protección concerns the first: healthcare arising from an insured occupational event. Ordinary EsSalud affiliation and complementary insurance have different purposes. Employers must establish whether their activities and exposed workers fall within the compulsory SCTR framework.
Treatment and rehabilitation
Published coverage includes medical, pharmaceutical, hospital and surgical services, together with rehabilitation, vocational readaptation and necessary appliances under the applicable rules. The scope relates to covered occupational injury or disease. The care network and procedures organise continuity of treatment without turning the policy into general coverage for every health condition.
Enrolment and worker declarations
Official information distinguishes employees from independent workers. For employers, it describes contracting through the insurance and cash benefit offices and recording workers through the relevant systems. Contracting, declaring workers and paying contributions are connected but separate requirements. Personnel information needs to remain accurate throughout the insurance relationship.
CEPRIT and occupational prevention
CEPRIT centres are specialist units bringing together different professional disciplines. EsSalud links them to services, tools and activities intended to prevent occupational accidents and diseases. Their work supports employer analysis and intervention. It does not transfer to the insurer the duty to correct hazards, organise safe work or provide prevention resources.
The accident care pathway
+Protección guidance distinguishes emergency care from continuing treatment and includes an occupational accident notification. Records connect the person, employer and event. Coverage assessment and the consequences of administrative non-compliance have specific rules and should not be confused with the clinical assessment of an emergency.
Frequently asked questions
Does +Protección automatically include a disability pension?
No. This entry concerns SCTR Salud. SCTR disability, survivors and funeral benefits require the corresponding pension component.
Are CEPRIT centres pension processing offices?
Their described role is occupational risk prevention and technical support. Pension procedures follow the routes of the component providing those benefits.
